Very quiet and cozy cafe tucked in Birmingham. You notice extreme friendliness of the owner and the staff as soon as you step through the door. Cozily decorated and furnished, the tables will remind you of those nice, soft home dinners with family at the table. Now food. For the appetizer we had Vichyvoisse soup - delicate potatoes, leeks, and cream pureed soup, a heavenly cloud in a cup, served cold. I ordered cheese and ham crepe and my wife ordered goat cheese and mushroom quiche. Both came with the salad. The crepe was generously stuffed and cheese and ham, with some melted cheese on top. The flavors are perfectly balanced, a definition of a savory crepe. Quiche was so light and puffy, almost souffle-like, one tender bite melts in your mouth. For deserts we ordered chocolate mousse and blueberry vanilla tart. If you thought about the perfect ending to any meal, this was it. The perfect pairing for that was freshly grinded coffee with French sugar on the side. Can't recommend that place enough! Absolute gem of a place with a true French cuisine that's extremely hard to come by in Metro Detroit! Bon appétit! Viva la France!

What an amazing restaurant and a truly authentic French dining experience. Before I talk about the food my wife and I enjoyed I feel I must give my hats off to the honor and chef for a phenomenal job. She informed us ahead of time that due to some staffing issues she was there by herself. Please understand that servicing a nearly full restaurant full of patrons by yourself when you are cooking everything from scratch is no small feat. On to the food. My wife and I decided to split a mushroom and goat cheese quiche and salad as an appetizer. This was the most delicate, rich, and delightful quiche I've ever had. Our appetizer was followed by a cod dish and an oven baked chicken dish. Both were prepared to perfection and very well seasoned. The food presentation was incredible as we both expected. This was our first time here, as my wife decided to take me here for my birthday dinner. This is a restaurant that you must experience multiple times, as to me you changes often. Please do yourself a favor and try this restaurant if you are in the market for authentic French cuisine. If I didn't mention this before, the chef and owner is actually from France. Please visit, you won't be disappointed.

Such a cute place! Claude is the chef and owner who mostly runs the whole place herself! She is a very cute, kind lady. We went here for lunch and got a savory crepe and quiche. The menu changes daily since Claude makes everything from scratch also based on seasonal ingredients. The food was amazing - the quiche was so fluffy and soft, perhaps even better than the quiches I’ve had in Paris! The crepe was similar to the authentic crepes I’ve had in france before as well. I appreciate that the portions are filling but won’t leave you uncomfortably full. Go here if you’re looking for authentic French cuisine - very cute ambience as well :)

We had an absolutely delicious and delightful dinner here. If you are looking for authentic French cuisine look no further. This food is amazing and the staff is lovely. We will definitely be back.

Only one word describes this place. Wow! We ordered the savory quiche and crepes and they were amazing ! Claude and Estelle were so welcoming. Next time we are in Michigan we will eat here every day. It’s nice to see the owner take so much pride in her food. Thank you French Lady for the best breakfast ever!

Had some errands to run in Downtown Birmingham, and thought I’d stop in to check out The French Lady. It also happens to be restaurant week in Birmingham, so they had items not always on their menu. I asked Claude, the owner, to choose my lunch for me, and I’m so happy I did. She chose Cassoulet for me, a white bean casserole with sausage and beef. My understanding is each region in France claims this dish to be their specialty, with their own little tweaks and changes. I’m so glad I let her choose, because I would have never selected this. It was fabulous - slow cooked over 14 hours. They buy their ingredients from small, locally owned farms. Yum! And their cherry custard tart (made with Michigan tart cherries) was amazing. It’s rare that I’m out and about on a Friday afternoon - truly enjoyed my time looking at my book and eating lunch in this charming, relaxing, place.

Okay, I haven’t been so ecstatic for a while now! This place has been my discovery of the year! We found it by accident on Google and I fell for the reviews and the menu.I’m so happy we got here! We got carrot bisque, it was incredible. Silky soft, smooth, rich and creamy. It felt like this dish was making love to my mouth! We also got quiche with mushrooms and goat cheese. It comes with the light salad, tomatoes and balsamic a sauce (I think..). The quiche beyond satisfying. The crust is there, fresh and light, quiche mouse has a rich creamy, and cheese flavour, it’s lighter than air and melts in your mouth right alway. Bomb! And we closed it with beef bourguignon. Braised beef in wine sauce was very soft, glistening, and juicy, comes with rice and a some vegetable (forgot it’s name). On desert we got chocolate mousse and crème caramel, delicious! What can I say, this place is exceptional! They use only fresh produce bought only at farmers markets, they cook fresh daily from scratch. I believe they also change a menu every day. Claude and young women that helps her are so nice and lovely. It was simply a pleasure be there and chat with them! A few customers came in and Claude welcomed them personally. Some reviews were saying the food is pricey, but since it’s fresh food they use and Birmingham, that’s totally makes sense. Overall it felt more than just a lunch, it was a great experience meeting someone who loves what they’re doing, and getting a gastronomic satisfaction. I will most definitely come back here again.

My boyfriend and I had such a special experience here yesterday! We attempted to come here on my birthday 4 days ago, but that day there was a French conversationalist class going on and the kitchen had already closed. The owner was so nice and encouraged us to come back at a later day. We called ahead yesterday to make sure it was OK to come dine in and it ended up being a private dining experience. We dined on their back patio and were the only ones in the restaurant as they were working on setting some things up in the main area. The chef, Alexander, was so nice and his mom runs the restaurant. They are from France and offer delicious menu items. They both were very hospitable and it felt as if we were in their home by how warm they treated us. Alexander made us a yummy appetizer that I forget the name of. It had quail egg and caviar. We both had savory crepes. I had the ham and cheese and my boyfriend had the ratatouille with egg. The portions were generous and really tasty. For dessert, Alexander informed us he had just baked some crème brûlée that was outstanding and so of course we had to get it! We watched him blow torch the liquor and it was delicious. It was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had and we can’t wait to go back again. Photography credit goes to my boyfriend, Park Photography!
